Trauma-Informed
Bodywork
This empowering work will help you learn the language of your nervous system and help you get out of your head and into your body. Getting to know your nervous system is critical to overcoming pain, stress, anxiety, and other symptoms of overwhelm. You do not have to have a diagnosis or even identify with the word trauma.
In these treatments you will be clothed. I will guide you to notice sensations in your body and teach you ways to track them to come to a place of rebalance. In this context, touch is used to help unravel the tensions and pain in your body, not to fix or change a body structure.
Our bodies have the innate ability to heal. Our work together is to build capacity and create space to let that happen naturally.
I will help you reframe your mindset around your body and pain, share management tools, and teach you about nervous system health. My goal is to help you feel empowered and reach the goals we set together.
FAQ
-
Please wear comfortable clothing.
You will be clothed for these treatments and it is best that you be able to move freely and feel relaxed.

Full-body assessment. This is longer for new patients and new injuries/issues. This includes looking at posture while standing and moving. I may also perform specific movement tests to ensure we understand the root of your pain.
Manual therapy. I use a variety of techniques to help your body release tension and realign/heal itself. Treatments are dynamic and engaging - I often ask for you to move during treatment, so that your nervous system actively releases tensions.
Reassessment. I will do brief reassessments during and/or at the end of your session. This is how we know what is working and what is not.
Homework. Did you just cringe? I know this is the hard part, but lasting effects and changes come from your diligence in self-care.
Follow-up. I’m very curious about the effectiveness of our work together. I’ll send a follow-up email with a summary of movement suggestions. Please let me know what feels different in your body and ask questions if you have them!

The assessment portion is longer in your first session, because it is critical in understanding how to provide an effective treatment. However, I want you to leave feeling better than when you came in, so you will receive treatment.

Initially, I like to see my trauma-informed bodywork clients on a weekly or bi-weekly cadence for 3-4 sessions. This is so that I can get a sense of you and how you respond to the treatments.
After that, we can discuss the best cadence for you, based on your goals.

My regular treatment room is up one set of stairs, but if you require a ground-floor room please include that in your intake form after booking. You can also remind the admin team when you arrive.

Your informed consent is the most important component of treatment. I will always share my findings and make sure you understand my plan.
Every body and nervous system is different. We all hold stress/trauma in different ways and areas of our bodies. My college (CMTO) requires your signature for certain treatments. I comply with these requirements, but understand that they do not fully encompass all sensitive areas or forms of treatment. This is why open communication is key.
You are the expert on your body. I will ask for your feedback often, so that I know what is and is not working.
If you don’t want to continue with any portion of any treatment, please tell me and I will stop. I have many tools and techniques for this reason.
My goal is for you to feel safe and empowered in my treatment space.
